Arrived as described.Would purchase again.Pulverized fish poop vapor, doesn't mix well, Zero idea of the health benefits other than an appetite suppressant from the smell. Anyone who can stomach this is a tougher person than I. If the dedication strikes you, I suggest mixing with the Strongest flavored anything, maybe soured pineapple juice could mask its smell and taste?Ok, I purchased this after watching the documentary "Food Inc." and there was a guy talking about Spirulina and referring to it as "pond scum". With that comment I had to try it. I have to say I really enjoy it. Now, the smell may turn you off so I would probably encourage you to not put your nose into the bag to smell what you are about to consume because it may turn you off completely. I mean it stinks! However, after reading the health benefits I had to try it. I take a spoonful of Spirulina and mix it in a bowl of greek yogurt(1/2 cup or so), 1/2 a banana, some organic honey. It does not look pretty and it does actually look like the deep green pond scum you may see in a pond. But, it tastes pretty darn good. I usually eat it after an Extreme Fit (similar to Crossfit) workout or after doing a hot yoga sculpt class. Spirulina has may health benefits; it has 16 grams of protein per serving and also contains all 9 essential amino acids needed to build proteins, which repair muscle tissue, improve metabolism and prevent hunger. This comes with a recipe book and I haven't mixed it in anything but the yogurt but so far, so good. I highly recommend trying this product.Spirulina of any edible non-pill form will taste unappetizing. This is not a treat but a powerhouse of nutrition for your body. I drink it mixed with water alone, but I am a minimalist when it comes to things. I would recommend mixing this with raw cacao powder if you are more sensitive to taste and smell than I am, as I have tried that and it is nice, and adds extra nutrition (another superfood) with its antioxidants, magnesium, iron and fiber.I stopped drinking coffee for thirty days and started drinking this spirulina as a substitute. I had long-lasting energy and was not on edge at all, which tends to be a pattern with coffee, as well as no come-down from this product.I had not taken this in a couple of weeks due to a move and started drinking coffee again daily at work. Today is Saturday and I am not working. I noticed a caffeine headache badly, and had organic coffee at home and this spirulina packed in my car in glass. I chose to go for the spirulina. I stirred it in with a cup of water, downed it, and headache unexpectedly gone. I feel like I am buzzing.I am not huge on storing and eating lots of vegetables and fruits, and that gets expensive, as do well-sourced multivitamins. This is all that in one product. If nature made a multivitamin, this would be it. Bye bye $ on those things, hello extra $ for gifting others, or myself :).I was excited to try this brand of spirulina when it arrived. I took it before and after workout / run, and noticed nothing negative. I started to get a stomach ache after taking it with water, though I don't think it's because of bad quality or contamination or anything. I think maybe I've started off taking too much or just drinking it too quickly or something all together different. The spirulina has a non offensive smell, and taste is not bad. I'm going to slow down on my intake of the powder, and hopefully no more stomach aches because I really want to keep spirulina as a part of my routine.edit: Doesn't happen so much anymore, the stomach aches have mostly subsided. I think it may be a digestion issue I've had in general. I quit refined sugar, caffeine, gluten, dairy, etc. So my body is probably adjusting. I highly recommend this brand of spirulina.I have never tried spirulina before, but I have read about the benefits of it and wanted to try it. This product got good reviews so I figured I would try this one. The order arrived timely in a sealed package. I followed the advice of other reviewers and have used it in smoothies. The first time I tried it, I will admit, I was a little taken back by the smell and taste. It certainly isn’t something I will say “tastes good”; however, I haven’t tried any other brands of spirulina to compare. I have been making morning smoothies with it for about four days now. I feel good drinking something I know is healthy. I have found mixing it with a banana and blueberries in a smoothie is an effective way of hiding the bad flavor. I will continue to use this product daily since it is a great source of anti oxidants.Update: my boyfriend has been using this and adding it to his daily greens juice. He says he likes it!Who really knows how good this stuff really works, no matter what brand, due to honest locations, pollutions and metals, but it has not caused me any problems. I take for cleansing purposes, and I only take one tablespoon daily in 1/4th cup juice, nose plugged cuz taste and smell is awful as I knew algae naturally would be, then wash down with another fourth cup of juice, then some water. I take daily "every other" week, giving my body rest from any metals - if too many. Before this brand, I was taking the NOW organic brand which was allot less fishy, but still tasted yucky in it's own way. I am a 53 years old menopausal woman, and when I took the NOW brand for the whole 3 weeks it lasted, I started a menstrual cycle that lasted a week. So, this does effect your hormones, but I believe in a positive way, balancing them out as noted it would do. It also made me feel uplifted. I have not taken this Sari Foods brand for long, so not sure how this brand will work for me.I’m totally new to superfoods. My health freak friend suggested that I try and start improving my diet with some healthy foods and more exercise as I have a few health issues but really want to try and get off my medications. So I thought that by eating more nutrients that my body could actually use (I’ve been doing reading around vitamins and minerals being more bioavailable when from pure food sources) that I would start feeling better… I don’t know yet... it’s only been a week but I guess I feel slightly better. I’ve been sleeping better for sure but it’s early days so that could just be coincidence. I found a really good smoothie recipe though! 1 cup of coconut water, 1 tsp coconut oil, 1 tsp sari foods spirulina, 200g mixed tropical fruits (tesco do a good frozen bag) and a small handful of spinach - I’m not sure how I feel about vegetables in my smoothie yet. I really want to like this spirulina, I have heard such good things about how it can help with anxiety and stress management because of the b vitamins as well as being high in Iron which I’m really deficient in because of my condition so fingers crossed - I’ll keep you postedThis is the first spirulina I have ever tried, so I can not compare it to other brands. I can tell you it does NOT smell like fish, however it still has an unpleasant smell. Based on other reviews, I would say the smell is a general issue with spirulina and Sari Foods spirulina is one of the best out there.I can also confirm that interestingly the smell does not reflects it's taste. When it comes to taste it is far more different and better than it's smell. Upon mixing it to smoothies it gives some extra juicy, odd flavour. Consuming it with plain water is nod a good idea unless you really like the flavour.Five star because I was worried about the general reputation of spirulina's taste and smell but pleasantly disappointed when tried it.Also just to let you know it is a very fine dark green powder, so fine it flies in the air like smoke does.I read somewhere that Spirulina could be a key food in supporting life on mars so I had to check it out. I got the bag a few weeks ago and initially wasn’t quite sure what to do with the powder. Thankfully they sent along a recipe book which was really helpful to get me started.I’ve actually started to cut meat out of my diet and whenever I tell people about it the response is always the same, “but how will you get protein”. This is an excellent source of organic plant-based protein and contains naturally occurring B12 which is a bit difficult to find on a predominately plant-based diet. There are also a ton of other great vitamins and nutrients in the powder and it’s filled with natural prebiotic material.I’d love to be able to get to the point where I could mix it in water and drink it but I’m not there yet. My favorite way to use it is in a smoothie. I also think it goes great in a stir fry and I can hardly taste it.I’ve also heard that all of the nutrients in spirulina can be contaminated with pesticides and other nasties if it’s not harvested from a clean source. I was really concerned when I heard this and reached out to the company. They were very reassuring about the integrity and purity of their growing process and even sent me the lab analysis from the independent testing process. It's so rare to find customer service like that these days.Spirulina is definitely the most unique food item in my pantry but perhaps the most nutritious!I regularly take spirulina by mixing in a smoothie or in some orange juice. This is one of the best around. I have issues with my digestion and IBS and can say that it is improving my symptoms day by day. Another important point is where this spirulina is sourced from, it is reliable, safe and free from any pollutants which cannot be said for spirulina that is sourced from other regions especially China. I would recommend to anyone who buys spirulina to research where it isn’t sourced from and why it is so important for long term overall health. This product ticks all the boxes !I love it but unfortunately it made me 'crash'. I have adrenaline fatigue along with auto immune disease. So I thought I'd write this for people who are trying to be healthy and don't know this.Apart from that. It is amazing. Really nice product and lasts ages.
